The University of Alabama Trumpet Studio

The University of Alabama is building a strong reputation as a premiere institution to study trumpet at the undergraduate and graduate collegiate level. The UA School of Music is a comprehensive institution offering trumpet students opportunities to perform in high-quality ensembles including the Alabama Wind Ensemble, the Huxford Symphony Orchestra, the Alabama Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Trumpet Ensemble, the University of Alabama Brass Ensemble, brass quintets and other chamber ensembles, and more. The studio is maintained at a size that allows for quality individualized instruction and equitable opportunities to perform in the university's major ensembles.

The UA Trumpet Studio has hosted many wonderful guest artists in recent years, including Vladislav Lavrik, Principal Trumpet of the Russian National Orchestra and trumpet teacher at the Moscow Conservatory of Music, in 2008 and 2010, Christopher Martin of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 2010, and Philip Smith of the NY Philharmonic, composer and pianist Joseph Turrin, Tom Hooten of the Atlanta Symphony, and Jazz artist and clinician Pat Harbison as guest artists at the 2010 Trumpet Festival of the Southeast. In fall 2010 the UA Trumpet Studio also hosted Emilio Heredia, Principal Trumpet of the Cuban National Symphony.

In addition to providing students a quality experience in music, The University of Alabama offers all the benefits of a major university in every field. The conservatory atmosphere of the School of Music is enhanced by the academic and recreational opportunities available around the university as a whole.
